Medicare Going Nuclear

A new law is going into effect July 1, 2009 which will dramatically alter the equation for Medicare liens. I will have more to say on this in future posts but suffice to say, this will be a game changer.

Hopefully you can elaborate on this topic as baby boomers (or younger) struggle with the costs of providing for their aging parents. As the medical sciences progress, and life in general is prolonged, funds and savings can be eaten up in a relatively short time if the elderly requires caregiving, private physical therapy, incontinence aids, food supplements and mobility apparatus to name a few costs. I was told by my accountant is a write off, yet the estate did not get a refund this year as promised. The economics of dealing with the elderly is daunting; the children or attending family members often must contribute fiscally amongst many other obligations.
